A computer-implemented method for data exchange between a health provider and a patient's health insurance company. The data exchanged, includes information collected by the health provider, from the patient, relating to a party's request for the patient's records and/or a pre-treatment questionnaire that the patient completes. This collected information is qualified, then subsequently is sent by the health provider to the patient's health insurance company. This information is pertinent is showing the patient's health insurance company that the patient has been involved in an injury or has an open injury claim. Moreover, such information relating to the exchanged data may indicate that because of the injury, the patient has the possibility of a payment party, other than the patient's health insurance, being liable for the patient's health care bills, relating to the injury. This computer-implemented method allows the patient's health insurance company to more efficiently and effectively perform their subrogation activities.
