Provided is a white color proofing unit for proofing a white color highly precisely even when a material less expensive than ceramic is adopted as a white color proofing plate.  The white color proofing unit (10) comprises a white color proofing plate (123), a transparent protecting member (122) for protecting the white color proofing plate (123), a holding member (124) serving as a backing member for the white color proofing plate (123), and a spring (125).  The thickness (t) and the refractive index of the transparent protecting member (122) are used to calculate the optical distance of the thickness (t), and an illumination system is arranged so that the quantity of light of a first position (P1) and the quantity of light of a second position (P2) may be equal.
