PROTEIN EXHIBITING ACTIVITY AS PYRETHRIN BIOSYNTHESIS ENZYME, GENE ENCODING THE SAME, AND VECTOR BEARING THE GENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing pyrethrin, comprising determining the amino acid sequence of an enzyme participating in the biosynthesis of the pyrethrin and the base sequence of a gene thereof, producing a vector bearing the gene and a transformant, and then applying the production technique by virtue of them to a quickly growing plant.

SOLUTION: Provided is the gene encoding an enzyme which can be extracted from a plant body producing the pyrethrin and which is the following protein (i) or (ii): (i) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence represented by the sequence number 1; and (ii) a protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by the sequence number 1 wherein one or more amino acids have been replaced, deleted, inserted, and/or added, and exhibits the activity as a pyrethrin biosynthesis enzyme.
