<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which the configuration of a drive circuit is simpler than heretofore, and also, each light-emission luminance of each of red, green and blue pixels is controlled in a wide range from high luminance to low while balancing the light-emission luminance. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device includes the plurality of pixels each having a spontaneous optical element and including a drive transistor for driving the spontaneous optical element based on an image signal, a capacitive element connected between a corresponding signal line among a plurality of signal lines and a control electrode of the drive transistor, and a reset switching element connected between the control electrode of the drive transistor and a second electrode. In the image display device, the reset switching elements of all the pixels are turned off during light emission, and a PWM signal is supplied from the drive circuit to the signal line. The image display device has two or more luminance display modes, and the periodical cycle of the PWM signal supplied from the drive circuit to the signal line during the light emission in the low-luminance display mode among the two or more luminous display modes is shorter than the periodical cycle of the PWM signal supplied from the drive circuit to the signal line during the light emission in a standard luminance display mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
