<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain simple input of Japanese characters by a small space in an information terminal such as a cellular phone equipped with mechanical keys and a touch panel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to an information terminal for inputting Japanese words in Roman alphabets using 12 keys. Two vowel letters of first vowel letters and second vowel letters are arranged on the keys and consonants are arranged to them. Thereby, a resonant sound, contracted consonant, voiced consonant, contracted and voiced consonant, and semivoiced consonant can be inputted using either vowel letter. Moreover, auxiliary display of an inputting method enables a user to simply input the Japanese words without regard to the first vowel letters or second vowel letters.
