A method of preparing a nanoporous titanium film includes depositing a film of a mixture including titanium and one or more metals that are immiscible with the titanium on a substrate; and eliminating the one or more metals that are immiscible with the titanium selectively from the mixture by an electrochemical method. A method of preparing a nanoporous TiO2 film includes depositing a film of a mixture including titanium and one or more metals that are immiscible with the titanium on a substrate; eliminating the one or more metals that are immiscible with the titanium selectively from the mixture by an electrochemical method; and oxidizing the titanium.
