A fiber optic cable assembly includes an inner cable assembly. The inner cable assembly includes an optical fiber, a first strength layer surrounding the optical fiber and a first jacket surrounding the strength layer. A second strength layer surrounds the inner cable assembly. The second strength layer includes a first set of strength members and a second set of strength members. The first and second sets of strength members are unbraided. A second jacket surrounds the second strength layer.
