The lens carrier (11) has a frame shaped lens holder (12) and two retaining elements (20) for retaining a lens element (100). The retaining elements extend inwards into an inner side (13) of the lens holder. Each retaining element comprises catch noses (21, 22) spaced apart from each other for axial mounting of the lens element. The lens holder has an axial thickness (18) in a region outside the retaining elements and another axial thickness (19) in a holding region (28) of the retaining elements, where the latter thickness is larger than the former thickness.
