摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of compensating for primary PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) and suppressing higher-order PMD without changing the intensity of optical pulses, and to provide a light transmission system achieving this method. <P>SOLUTION: A first polarization plane controller 202 adjusts a polarized state of a received light pulse signal 301 to generate a first polarization plane controlled optical pulse signal 103 according to the received optical pulse signal 301. A DGD (Differential Group Delay) compensator 104 performs DGD on one of polarization mode components of an intrinsic polarization mode of the first polarization plane controlled optical pulse signal to generate a PMD compensated optical pulse signal 105. A second polarization plane controller 212 controls rotation of a polarization plane of an optical pulse constituting a transmitted optical pulse signal 211 such that a DOP (Degree of Polarization) value of the PMD compensated optical pulse signal is further increased to output a higher-order polarization plane controlled optical pulse signal from the DGD compensator. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
