PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating solid component and lignin of wood from each other in a subcritical condition, capable of separating a fibrous solid which is effectively usable as cellulose from a biomaterial mainly composed of wood under high temperature and high pressure by use of water. SOLUTION: The method for separating a fibrous component of wood in a subcritical condition includes treating the wood at high temperature and high pressure (in the subcritical state), thereby separating the firmly bonded fiber and lignin of the wood into components respectively mainly composed of the fiber and the lignin, and taking the fiber component as a fibrous solid component while leaving the lignin in an aqueous solution.
