<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more reliably prevent the overheating of a heated material than conventional when energizing the heated material to heat the heated material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ohmic heating method includes calculating an overheating restricting current I<SB>MAX</SB>which is a current flowing in an overheating concern part of a steel plate 1 when overheated, so that the overheating restricting current I<SB>MAX</SB>flows in the steel plate 1 from when the overheating concern part passes through an energizing roll 14 till when it enters into molten metal 17, if determining that the overheating concern part is overheated. Thus, when determining that the overheating concern part of the steel plate 1 is overheated, it sets a temperature where the overheating concern part is overheated, as an upper limit value, for heating the steel plate 1 at a temperature as high as possible while more reliably preventing the breakage of the steel plate 1 due to the temperature of the steel plate 1 being too high or the separation of plating applied to the steel plate 1 due to the temperature of the steel plate 1 being too low.
