PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and lightweight high variable power zoom lens suitable for single-lens reflex digital cameras, which attains >75°in a field angle on a wide-angle side, approximately 3 to 4 in F-number at a wide-angle end and approximately 6 to 7 in F-number at a telephoto end, and about 15 in a variable power ratio, and advantageously incorporates an anti-vibration mechanism. SOLUTION: The high variable power zoom lens comprises four lens groups having positive, negative, positive, and positive power. The positive third lens group has, in order from an object side, a front group having positive refractive power, and a rear group having negative refractive power. By moving only the rear group in a direction orthogonal to an optical axis, imaging plane correction when camera shake is caused is performed. The second lens group is moved to the object side for focusing. The high variable power zoom lens satisfies a conditional expression, 0.14<f3r/ft<0.18, provided that f3r: focal length of the rear group in the third lens group, and ft: focal length of the entire optical system at the telephoto end.
