PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic imaging apparatus capable of suppressing the power consumption of a pulsar which generates electric signals for driving a piezoelectric element low. SOLUTION: A multilevel pulsar 33 has transistors Q7 and Q8 and diodes D70 and D80 connected between an intermediate driving voltage±HVL and an output line 1, eliminates a current regularly consumed in respective steps of generating pseudo sine waves, and discharges electrical charge charged in the piezoelectric element 11 at high speed. Thus, the power consumption is reduced and the heat generation of the multilevel pulsar 33 is reduced as a result. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
