PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article hard to cause a feeling of physical disorder at the time of wearing because the joined part of a leakproof wall is not exposed on a skin contact surface and capable of enhancing the fitness to a wearer, twist preventing properties and leak preventing properties. SOLUTION: This sanitary napkin 1A includes an absorbent body 5 equipped with a surface sheet 2, a back sheet 3 and an absorber 4 and hollow loop-shaped leakproof walls 7 formed by joining stretchable sheets 6 to both side parts 5a in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent body 5 by joining parts 8. The leakproof walls 7 erected in an excretion region (a) so as to form a hollow loop shape. The joining part 8 of each of the leakproof walls 7 in the excretion region (a) is formed by joining one side part 6a of the stretchable sheet 6 to the skin contact surface in the side part 5a in the longitudinal direction of the surface sheet 2. The sanitary napkin 1A makes each of the joining parts 8 function so as to join the inside surface of the loop of each of the leakproof walls 7 (the sheet 62 on the side of a skin non-contact surface) to the surface sheet 2 to form the hollow leakproof walls 7.
