Provided is a small-size image projection device which can project a high-quality image. The image projection device includes a reflection unit which reflects a light flux from a light source and is rotated around a first axis by a non-resonance drive and around a second axis substantially orthogonally intersecting the first axis, by a resonance drive, thereby polarizing the light flux in a two-dimensional direction. By controlling the rotation of the reflection unit, it is possible to make a correction to suppress an image distortion along one (first) scan direction on the projection surface and a correction to maintain a substantially constant light flux scan speed along the other (second) scan direction on the projection surface. When the reflection unit is located at the center position of rotation around the first and the second axis, the angle ? satisfies the relationship 10 degrees < ? < 70 degrees, wherein ? is the angle of inclination of the light flux projected onto the projection surface in the second scan direction with respect to the normal of the projection surface. |
