<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform system operation which has flexibility and expansibility by increasing the total number of slave units optionally as necessary while securing security and reliability in a regional crime prevention system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for controlling the regional crime prevention system which includes: radio communication parts 2t each provided with a radio ID tag; a plurality of portable slave units 2 which a plurality of crime target persons H respectively have; ad hoc communication parts 3t each provided with a radio ID tag; and a plurality of repeaters 3 (including a master unit 4) respectively installed at a plurality of different predetermined places within a prescribed region Ac. In the method, an optional repeater 3 performs confirmation processing about the presence/absence of the preceding ACK from another repeater 3, returned in response to a report packet Dp by receiving the report packet Dp from an optional slave unit 2, and performs control so as to return a self-ACK for responding the report packet Dp from the optional repeater 3 on the condition of the absence of the preceding ACK, and to stop returning at least the self-ACK during the presence of the preceding ACK.
