<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in color determination of a boundary line by the rising sun or the setting sun by which the whole road is colored, or illumination by neon lamps inside a tunnel, because an area wherein described characteristic amounts approximate to each other becomes the whole road, a processing area becomes wide, so that a processing load increases. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the road marking recognition device having an image processing part performing processing of an image photographed by an onboard camera, the image processing part stores a first color information ratio of a road marking that is a reference, calculates a second color information ratio of the road marking from an image of the road marking on the road on which one's own vehicle travels, calculates a correction coefficient based on the first and second color information ratios, calculates a third color information ratio of an area to be performed with the color determination inside the image, corrects the third color information ratio to a fourth color information ratio based on the correction coefficient, and performs the color determination of the area based on the fourth color information ratio and the first color information ratio.
