PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that facilitates a user's operation in the case of obtaining recording reservation information with preference information reflected thereon, and a method of structuring preference information for the recording apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus which performs automatic recording based on a recording reservation program list has: a transmitting/receiving part connected to a network; a preference information database part for once setting preference information acquired from another recording apparatus through the transmitting/receiving part as it is; and a recording reservation program list part for storing the recording reservation program list with the preference information of the preference information database part reflected thereon.
