The device (1) has a passenger compartment (2) including a seat for a test person. A programmable linear guide device (3) is longitudinally adjustable and provided for controlling the passenger compartment for simulating accident-/drive situations in a driving direction. An activated or deactivated passenger protection device i.e. intelligent anticipatory security system such as pretensioner, is provided. A rotating device (4) is provided for rotating the passenger compartment relative to the linear guide device, so that lateral- and side impacts are simulated. An independent claim is also included for a method for simulating an impact of a passenger protection system for a motor vehicle.
