<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for acquiring and tracking a global positioning system signals, with high acquisition speed and high sensitivity. <P>SOLUTION: A pseudo-random noise matching filter operation is performed on a sample of global positioning system signals and provides a current matched filter result.
