PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for preventing precipitation of a metal compound formed from divalent metal ion under an alkaline condition, in an analyzer using a reagent containing divalent metal ion and alkaline cleaning liquid. SOLUTION: This composition for precipitation prevention contains a compound having CH(OH)CH(OH)COOH group or its salt. Resultantly, formation of a water-insoluble or slightly-soluble compound (for example, magnesium hydroxide) can be prevented, and deposition of the water-insoluble or slightly-soluble compound onto a waste liquid tube or the like can be prevented, and thereby analysis by an automatic analyzer can be executed always accurately, and its stable operation becomes possible.
