PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector capable of easily detecting the wear of a female screw in a screw fitting ring with which a valve rod screws, and of allowing valve opening operation even when a screw thread is ruptured. SOLUTION: In a protector 1 which forces a valve rod 12 to screw with a screw fitting ring 14 fitted in an annular part 13b in a yoke 13 and which is mounted in a valve for opening/closing a flow path with rotation of the valve rod 12, a female screw 3 is formed in the inner periphery of an annular body 2 fitted to the valve rod 12 in the side frame 13a of the yoke 13 and forced to screw with a male screw 12a of the valve rod 12. The protector 1 keeps a whirl-stop projection 4 on the outer periphery of the annular body 2. The whirl-stop projection 4 abuts on the side frame 13a of the yoke 13 to prevent the annular body 2 and valve rod 12 from rotating together. Even through the annular body 2 is brought closer to the annular part 13b of the yoke 13 and a screwing state between the valve rod 12 and screw fitting ring 14 is lost owing to the wear of the female screw 14a in the screw fitting ring 14, the screwing state between the valve rod 12 and annular body 2 is maintained so that a flow path can be closed by rotating the valve rod 12.
