<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small linear motor with a simple structure by arranging coil units in line in the direction of the length of a magnetic pole. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The linear motor 1 includes: a stator 3 having the cylindrical magnetic pole 10 and the coil units 20 arranged in line in the direction of the length of the magnetic pole 10; and a ring magnet 5 movable along the direction of the length of the magnetic pole 10. The magnetic pole 10 includes a pair of magnetic pole tooth plates 11A1, 11A2 formed in a comb shape of: multiple magnetic pole teeth 13a1, 13a2 arranged at intervals in the direction of length; and joints 15a1, 15a2. The magnetic pole teeth 13a1, 13a2 are cylindrically formed so that they alternately engage with each other at intervals in-between. The coil unit 20 includes a cylindrical yoke 21A and a coil 23A wound thereon. The joint 15a1 between the magnetic pole tooth plates 11A1, 11A2 is connected to one end of the yoke 21A and the joint 15a2 is connected to the other end of the yoke 21A.
