<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain stabilization of behavior of a vehicle by forcibly executing braking force control according to the circumstance even when a braking force control cut switch is in the ON state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vehicle control device is provided with a braking force control device 20 for controlling behavior of the vehicle by controlling the braking force of a wheel; a braking force control cut switch 14 for forbidding operation of the braking force control device; and a night vision system 2 for assisting recognition of a driver relative to a living body at the outside of the vehicle. When the night vision system 2 recognizes the living body such as the pedestrian, a vehicle speed is a predetermined value or higher and intensity of illumination at a periphery of the vehicle is a predetermined value or lower, operation of the braking force control device 20 is allowed even when the braking force control cut switch 14 is in the ON state.
