The apparatus comprises a liquid reservoir having an output port and adapted for being carried by or mounted on a user; a mouthpiece member adapted to be placed in the mouth of the user; and a liquid meter assembly having therein a toroidal turbine and being in fluid communication with the output port and the mouthpiece member via at least one tube, for measuring an amount of liquid passing through the liquid meter assembly.
