The method involves introducing an emitter for emitting electromagnetic radiation into an animal's body by a projectile, where the emitter emits the electromagnetic radiation over a time period of up to 48 hours and in a range of up to 10 km. A radiation source is located by a device. The projectile is fired by a handgun i.e. rifle, and is incorporated in a cartridge. The emitted electromagnetic radiation is received by a receiver and is converted into an electrical signal. A case of the cartridge is made of brass.
