1,193,147. Propylene polymer compositions. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 29 Aug., 1967 [27 Aug., 1966], No. 39446/67. Heading C3P. [Also in Divisions C6 and C7] Compositions suitable for making articles which may be electroplated comprise polypropylene or a copolymer of at least 90 weight per cent of propylene units and up to 10 weight per cent of units of ethylene or another C 4-6α-olefin, and 10 to 50 weight per cent of zinc oxide or zinc sulphide. Stabilizers may be present. In examples polypropylene and ethylene/propylene copolymers are mixed with zinc oxide and/or sulphide and moulded, and the articles treated with a solution of sulphuric, phosphoric and chromic acids, activated with a solution of stannous chloride and hydrochloric acid, electroless plated from ammoniacal silver nitrate solution and a solution of potassium sodium tartrate, sodium hydroxide, copper sulphate, sodium carbonate and formaldehyde, and finally electroplated with copper.
|
