PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens having a high optical performance, optical equipment having the zoom lens, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The zoom lens ZL mounted on an electronic still camera 1 or the like is constituted by a first lens group G1 having a positive refractive power, a second lens group G2 having a negative refractive power, a third lens group G3 having a positive refractive power, a fourth lens group G4 having a negative refractive power, and a fifth lens group G5 having a positive refractive power sequentially from the object side. The first lens group G1 has a negative meniscus lens whose convex is turned to the object side, and a positive lens sequentially from the object side. The second lens group G2 has a negative meniscus lens whose convex is turned to the object side, a double-concave lens, and a positive lens sequentially from the object side. The object side lens surface of the negative meniscus lens of the second lens group G2 is set as an aspheric face, and at least one surface of lens surfaces of the positive lens of the second lens group G2, is set as an aspheric face.
