<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant speed universal joint having a cage which is lightweight and excellent in durability and workability, and a manufacturing method therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The inner peripheral surface 26 of a cage 5 is circular in cross section, and the radial dimension β of the outer peripheral surface 25 of the cage 5 from the center O in the radial direction on the outer peripheral surface 22a of a pocket formation part 22 is made smaller than the radial dimension α from the center O in the radial direction on the outer peripheral surface 21a of a pillar part 21. Because of this, the cage 5 is molded in a shape where the wall thickness of the pocket formation part 22 is smaller than that of the pillar part 21. More specifically, it is molded in an outer diameter step height shape where the outer peripheral surface 22a of the pocket formation part 22 and the outer peripheral surface 21a of the pillar part 21 are continuous to each other on the tapered surface 23. The part of the pillar part 21 on the outer diameter side is shaped so that its width in the circumferential direction becomes smaller toward the outside in radial direction because of the tapered surface 23 which is made a chamfer in a boundary part between the outer peripheral surface 21a of the pillar part 21 and the pocket 7.
