<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit of an air conditioner capable of reducing a possibility for a user to feel discomfort. <P>SOLUTION: This indoor unit 2 of the air conditioner includes an indoor unit body 20, a flat panel 24, a determining section 35, and a panel control section 31. The flat panel 24 can take a received state and a non-received state. The received state means a state that the flat panel 24 is received in the indoor unit body 20. The non-received state means a state that the flat panel 24 is not received in the indoor unit body 20. The determining section 35 determines whether the flat panel 24 is in the received state or the non-received state. The panel control section 31 decides contents of motion of the flat panel 24 based on a result of the determination by the determining section 35.
