<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for favorably measuring strain or a change in temperature through the use of an FBG sensor. <P>SOLUTION: Returning light from the FBG sensor 1 is split through an optical coupler 9, the split rays of returning light are made incident individually on two WDM filters 10, 11 whose wavelength bands continue, transmitted light from the first WDM filter 10 and the transmitted light from the second WDM filter 11 are added mutually and converted into a voltage VT, moreover returning light from the first WDM filter 10 and returning light from the second WDM filter 11 are added mutually and converted into a voltage VR, a dimensionless quantity of R=(VR-VT)/(VT+VR) is calculated, a wavelength is found from relations of R value to wavelength characteristics measured beforehand, and the strain or change in temperature is measured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
