<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce friction loss between a chain and a chain guide by a simple configuration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pair of inner link-plates 19 and a pair of outer link-plates 20 are alternately coupled by each pin 21 so as to form a timing chain 13. A sliding contact face 24 of a chain guide 16 (17) is brought into contact with the end face 23 along the chain longitudinal direction of each link plate 19, 20 so as to guide traveling of the timing chain 13. The edge part of the end face 23 of each link plate 19, 20 is rounded. By this, a contact area along the link-plate thickness direction between the end face 23 of each link plate 19, 20 and the sliding contact face 24 of the chain guide 16 (17) is reduced, thereby suppressing friction loss.
