Compounds of formula (I), wherein X is H or an acyl group, Z is N or CH, A is a group comprising up to three amino acid residues selected from Leu, Met, Ala, GIy, VaI, He and beta-Ala, or a direct bond, R is the side chain of GIn, Asn, Met or Cit, C is He, Leu, VaI, Ala, beta-Ala, GIy, or a direct bond, Y is OH, OR' NH2, NHR' or N(R')2, wherein each R' is independently selected from straight-chain or branched C3-10-alkyl, C3-10-alkenyl or C3-I0 - alkinyl groups; and salts thereof have useful anxiolytic and antidepressive activities.
