812,610. Glass manufacture. CASTRO, A.F.U.DE. May 24, 1956 [May 24, 1955], No. 16156/56. Class 56. A process for the continuous production of embossed or reinforced glass sheets, in which glass is discharged in fluid condition from tank type ovens and subsequently subjected to treatment by horizontal passage through a system of parallel rolls, comprises cooling the edges of the glass sheet by a jet or jets of air directed to impinge on the edges. The glass passes between internally cooled steel rolls, one of which incorporates the pattern to be embossed, and over carrying rolls to a second series of rolls in an annealing oven at a greater speed to tension the sheet, the jets of air being arranged between the rolls to impinge perpendicularly upwards on the edges of the sheets to prevent falling along the edges as well as to cool them, the jets being controlled by valves and other measuring devices.
|
