The system has two exhaust gas strands (2, 2a) arranged next to each other in a vehicle transverse direction (4) in a mounting condition. A mixing device (10) comprises a housing defining an inner chamber, and a separation plate is provided within the inner chamber. Partial openings and outlet openings of the exhaust strand run into respective mixing chambers and stand in fluid connection via the mixing chambers. A cross-sectional area of an inlet opening is equal to a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.
