摘要 <p>A method of producing activated carbon by reacting waste coffee grounds with an activating agent in an environment including at least one inert gas. Also disclosed is a nanoporous carbon electrode for use in a supercapacitor, and an Electrochemical Double-Layer Capacitor (EDLC). The constructed supercapacitor, in 1 M H2SO4 aqueous electrolyte, exhibited energy densities up to 20 Wh/kg, and excellent stability at high charge-discharge rates. In a two electrode cell the electrode was observed to have a specific capacitance as high as 368 F/g, rectangular cyclic voltammetry curves and stable performance over 10,000 cycles. Also disclosed is an EDLC using an organic electrolyte, the influence of activation agents and ratios, and activated carbon prepared from sugar cane bagasse.</p>
