<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely adjust the mold clamping force of even a small mold and enhance the flexibility of its use, and to heighten the versatility and reliability of even a mold of a spring-incorporated type by securely and accurately adjusting its mold clamping force. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A toggle-type mold clamping device is used which is rotatably driven by a servomotor 3, and the workload is sought by integrating, by the position of a mold, the magnitude of a load involved in high-pressure mold clamping, across a high-pressure mold clamping zone Zp from a high-pressure mold clamping switching position Xp where high-pressure mold clamping starts, which is set according to a mold touching position, up to a mold clamping termination position Xd, in a mold clamping process. Using this sought workload, a workload (reference workload Ws) is previously set as a reference involved in high-pressure mold clamping across the high-pressure mold clamping zone Zp. Then, during the productive operation, the workload (detected workload Wd) involved in the high-pressure mold clamping, in the high-pressure mold clamping zone Zp, is detected.
