<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blue luminescent polyimide useful as a luminescent-layer material in a polymer type organic EL display element, and to provide a blue luminescent group-containing tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride used for synthesis of the blue luminescent polyimide and the organic EL element using the blue luminescent polyimide as the luminescent-layer material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The blue luminescent polyimide has a repeating unit formed from a blue luminescent group-containing tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride expressed by formula (1) and an aliphatic or aromatic diamine, in an amount of 0.0001-1 by molar ratio.
