The element (1) has a base body (2) for connecting a component to a metallic sheet material i.e. plate (3). The base body includes a securing section whose cross sectional geometry differs from a circular form. The securing section is accommodated in a non-circular insert in the plate. The base body is secured against falling out by a holding unit in the insert. The cross sectional geometry includes sections with different bends to prevent twisting of the base body in the insert. The element is formed by a metallic material with an aluminum alloy, titanium alloy or stainless steel alloy.
