The system i.e. absorption air conditioning system (1), has a desorber (7) that lies in a cooling circuit (6) of an internal-combustion engine (2). The system utilizes the internal-combustion engine-waste heat and/or exhaust gas heat of the engine. The desorber is attached to an exhaust gas apparatus of the engine via an exhaust-gas heat exchanger. A burner is attached to the desorber. A compressor is connected between the desorber and an absorber (8). A steam turbocharger produces heat that is supplied to the desorber. An independent claim is also included for a method for air conditioning a motor vehicle.
