Provided herein is an isolated population of cells comprising osteogenic placental adherent cells (OPACs) for use in a method for treatment of bone defects in a subject. The OPACs are obtained from chorion and are adherent to tissue culture plastic. The OPACs are further negative for CD200 or are CD200 dim , and positive for CD105.
