Copolymer (I) comprising 20-95 wt.% of structural units derived from at least one hydrophilic monomer (II) and (b) 5-80 wt.% of structural units derived from at least one olefin monomer unit (III), is new, where (I) has a water content of 1-59 wt.%. Copolymer (I) comprising 20-95 wt.% of structural units derived from at least one hydrophilic monomer (II) and (b) 5-80 wt.% of structural units derived from at least one olefin monomer unit of formula (III), is new, where (I) has a water content of 1-59 wt.%. Y 1>O or NR 4>; X : O, S, SO or SO 2; S 1>CHR 5>or (CHR 5>CHR 5>O) iCH 2; R 5>H or alkyl; R 1>-R 5>H or alkyl; n, i : 1-10; and m : 2-6.
