摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor integrated circuit device which can determine the current value for lighting a laser diode to a suitable value irrespective of existence of return light in the initialization operation, and to provide an optical scanning device using the semiconductor integrated circuit device, a method for identifying return light in the optical scanning device, and an image forming apparatus using the optical scanning device. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor integrated circuit device which controls the quantity of light exiting a light source to have a target value based on the quantity of light incident to a light amount detection means for detecting the quantity of light includes a reference voltage generation means for generating a reference voltage corresponding to the target value, a comparison means for comparing a voltage corresponding to the quantity of incident light with the reference voltage, and a drive current control means for controlling a drive current being supplied to the light source based on the comparison results from the comparison means, wherein the drive current control means has a return light identification means for determining whether the quantity of incident light includes the quantity of return light which is generated discontinuously. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
