<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a pixel electrode, a second substrate, a common electrode and an alignment layer. In the first substrate, a plurality of pixel regions are defined and a thin-film transistor is included. The pixel electrode is disposed on the thin-film transistor. The second substrate is disposed opposite to the first substrate. The common electrode is disposed on the second substrate. The alignment layer includes an insulation layer and a photoalignment layer, disposed on at least one of the pixel electrode and the common electrode.
