PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing device having a mechanical obstacle detection structure being not easily and adversely affected by power supply failure or the like and achieving satisfactory operation property. SOLUTION: This opening/closing device is provided with two pulley members 92, 93, a string-like member stretched between these pulley members 92 and 93, and a first movable member 94 and a second movable member 95 being vertically movable. This opening/closing device is constituted to be in a tensile force increased condition in which the string-like member is sandwiched between the first movable member 94 and the second movable member 95 and is pulled upward in accordance with upward travel of a movable seat plate 12 and a tensile force reduced condition in which an interval between both of the movable members 94 and 95 is extended and tensile force of the string-like member is reduced in accordance with downward travel of the movable seat plate 12. Guide members 93a, 93b are provided on an inner side of a bent part of the string-like member in the vicinity of circumference of the pulley member 93 to come into slide-contact with the string-like member.
