<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide helpful means for enabling genetic applications such as insertion into an expression vector and transformation of a human CaT1 gene, further elucidating a calcium absorption activity mechanism such as the presence of a factor affecting the regulation of a calcium absorption activity of human CaT1, and useful for confirmation and new finding of a calcium absorption regulating factor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A human CaT1 gene, its plasmid vector, a transformant transformed by the plasmid vector, a method for screening a calcium absorption regulator and its screening kit, and a factor for promoting calcium absorption are provided. In particular, a calcium absorption-promoting pharmaceutical agent containing a proteinase decomposed product, prepared by digesting cheese whey with a proteinase and containing a peptide Ile-Pro-Ala containing 3 amino acids, as an active component, is provided.
