<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the extension of compressed image data and the resolution conversion from the extended image data to a desired image data size by using a memory capacity smaller than the size of the extended image data, while suppressing the generation of a block noise in an image processor. <P>SOLUTION: In the image processor, while extending compressed image data, the obtained extending image data is output each block sequentially and then memorized in a block buffer portion temporarily in units of blocks. Further, the horizontal resolution of the extended image data memorized in the block buffer portion is converted and then memorized in a line buffer portion temporarily in units of rows.
