PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzymatic saccharification method, by which calcium carbonate as one component of waste paper can safely be removed in a save energy and at a saved cost to promote the enzymatic saccharification reaction of biomass, while the calcium carbonate inhibits the enzymatic saccharification reaction, is recently being increased in the waste paper, and is thereby necessary to be removed to promote the enzymatic saccharification reaction, and the use of a strong acid is not preferable in the aspects of safety and cost. SOLUTION: Carbon dioxide, preferably carbon dioxide produced in a bioethanol fermentation process, is charged in the aqueous slurry of a calcium carbonate-containing biomass to convert the calcium carbonate into calcium bicarbonate having a high solubility, and then subjected to a solid-liquid separation process to remove the calcium carbonate.
