PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Mach-Zehnder optical modulator performing phase modulation with a driving signal of a lower voltage than that in the conventional practice when applying a single driving system. SOLUTION: In the Mach-Zehnder optical modulator, an optical waveguide 101 formed in an electrooptical crystalline substrate 100 comprises: an input part 102; a plurality of branch modulation parts 103, 104 which branch from the input part and are extended; an interference optical coupler part 105 which has a plurality of input ports and a plurality of output ports, the input ports being connected to the branch modulation parts 103, 104; and an output optical coupler part 106 which has the plurality of input ports connected to the output ports of the interference optical coupler part and has a plurality of output ports.
