PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which prevents response deterioration in face detection before and after displaying an enlarged through image in a specific area including a face area. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a display part for displaying a first through image based on image data; a face detection part for detecting a face included in an image of an area displayed on the display part according to the image data; and an electronic zooming part for performing first electronic zooming control for enlarging a second through image in a specific area including a face area recognized as a face by the face detection part up to the display area of the first through image and displaying the enlarged second through image on the display part. Before the first electronic zooming control, the electronic zooming part performs second electronic zooming control for enlarging an intermediate through image in an intermediate area including the specific area and larger than the specific area up to the display area of the first through image and displaying the enlarged intermediate through image on the display part.
